| English abstract | Between 1910 and 1920, the Brazilian intelligentsia went through a phase of efervescent reafirmation of civic values. Among the lessons taught by this patriotic catechism was the value of the study of national history. This context of increased nationalism stimulated the IHGB to organize and promote the 1st Congress of National History in September, 1914. This article analyzes this pioneeering event, which brough together men of letters and politicians of the day in order to systematize available historical knowledge, giving it unity and coherency |
