La principal fuente de información de Biblat son las bases de datos CLASE (Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades) y PERIÓDICA (Índice de Revistas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias), las cuales difunden registros de documentos contenidos en publicaciones periódicas y seriadas editadas en países y territorios de América Latina y el Caribe, así como aquellas de organismos internacionales ubicados dentro de la región que tienen una participación mayoritaria de países latinoamericanos.

CLASE es una base de datos bibliográfica creada en 1975 en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Contiene registros bibliográficos de artículos, ensayos, reseñas de libro, revisiones bibliográficas, notas breves, editoriales, biografías, entrevistas, estadísticas y otros documentos publicados en más de 1,700 revistas publicadas en América Latina y el Caribe, especializadas en ciencias sociales y humanidades.

PERIÓDICA is a bibliographic database created in 1978 at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Contains bibliographic records of original articles, technical reports, case studies, statistics and other documents published in about 1,500 journals from Latin America and the Caribbean, specialized in science and technology.

Search options in Biblat


Biblat It provides integrated access to the information contained in CLASE and PERIÓDICA, which allows simultaneous search of information in the area of social sciences and humanities (CLASE) or in exact and natural sciences (PERIÓDICA), or well, perform searchs restricted by discipline of knowledge.

The search options are:

Basic search: using a search term in any of the following fields: keyword (term that describes more specifically the content of each document,including geographical names, organizations, people and relevant dates mentioned in the document; only terms in spanish) of indexed documents (just searchs in spanish), author (surname and first names or initials of authors of document), journal (journal title), document title (title of article or document) or name of intitution (institution affiliation of author); or in all these fields.

Advanced search: to search combining different fields and using boolean operators AND, OR.

Some bibliographic records are linked to full-text articles. Biblat It offers two types of access to the full text: through hypertext links to journal websites (external resources) and through the digital collection acquis of Hemeroteca Virtual Latinoamericana of Dirección General de Bibliotecas (DGB) UNAM. All journals are in the Hemeroteca Latinoamericana, through which offered the service of obtaining documents.
