| Resumen en inglés | Between 1910 and 1920, the Brazilian intelligentsia went through a phase of efervescent reafirmation of civic values. Among the lessons taught by this patriotic catechism was the value of the study of national history. This context of increased nationalism stimulated the IHGB to organize and promote the 1st Congress of National History in September, 1914. Dentre as lições do catecismo patriótico sobressaía-se o estudo da história pátria. O contexto nacionalista estimularia o IHGB a promover o I Congresso de História Nacional, em setembro de 1914.
