English abstract Apapokúva is a dialect of Avá-Guarani (also called Nhandeva), Tupi-Guarani language family. The dialect, spoken in the Brazilian state of Paraná, was described fi rst by Nimuendajú when he published the ritual text of the Legends of the creation and destruction of the world. It contains the fi rst scientifi c analysis of a language which is poorly known today because the Avá are speaking a mixture of their own language, together with Mbyá and Paraguayan Guarani. It is therefore diffi cult to know which elements are authentical Avá. Nimuendajú’s description of the language makes possible a better knowledge of what is original Avá. Apapokúva as described by Nimuendajú will be analyzed here in a comparative perspective in order to allow structural relations with other Tupí-Guarani dialects, such as Paraguayan Guarani, Kaiowá, Mbyá, and Chaco Guarani (or Chiriguano)
