English abstract The present essay revolves around the meta-reflexive approach on Kenneth Branagh's film In the Bleak Midwinter (1995). Our aim is to study the use of Hamlet in this movie, as well as the intertextuality generated by this inter-artistic encounter. Following Linda Hutcheon’s dialogic perspective and Dudley Andrew’s typology of modes of relation between film and text, we carry through a contextualisation of the motion picture within the context of its coetaneous trends and the relevance of this director. Next, we analyse not only the general characteristics of the film, but also its interpretation according to the notion of “double meta-reflexivity”. The results obtained from this investigation lead to the following conclusion: the movie uses the Shakespearean tragedy as a guiding thread in order to build its argument. Its reflexivity relies on the following elements: the theatrical hints, the intertextuality with the play, Branagh's next film, the Shakespearean tradition and Hollywood conventions, the affinity of the actors with their roles and the use of diegetic music. All in all, Branagh creates a film which encapsulates his mixture of reverence and parody towards the Bard and emphasises the importance of continuing adaptating this classic work
