| Spanish abstract | Los murciélagos son un grupo biológico importante en la naturaleza por su abundancia, diversidad y hábitos alimenticios; sin embargo, de manera histórica han sido un grupo poco carismático debido a sus hábitos nocturnos y su asociación con cuevas, mitos y leyendas, lo que actualmente se ha recrudecido ya que se les ha relacionado con el origen del Covid-19, enfermedad que generó la última pandemia. La desinformación sobre estas especies desprende una serie de manejos inapropiados en torno a ellos que podrían ocasionar daños en sus poblaciones y sobre el ecosistema. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la percepción hacia los murciélagos y su relación con el Covid-19, antes y después de la aplicación de actividades educativas en alumnos de preparatoria en Tuxpan, Veracruz, entre dos ambientes (urbano y rural). Se aplicó un cuestionario al inicio y después de un proceso de educación ambiental para evaluar los cambios en la percepción de los estudiantes. Se aplicaron 235 cuestionarios al inicio y 229 al final, que al compararse entre sí mostraron diferencias significativas en sus resultados, ya que al inicio la mayoría clasificaba erróneamente a los murciélagos como aves, especialmente en el contexto rural, lo cual cambió (97%) en la encuesta final. En cuanto a la dieta de los murciélagos, al inicio se mostraba un desconocimiento generalizado y ambos ambientes demostraron asociarlos con historias ficticias como el conde Drácula, Batman y vampiros. Posterior al proceso de intervención, disminuyó de 87% a 57% el porcentaje de estudiantes que relacionaba a los murciélagos como responsables directos del origen del Covid-19. Lo anterior demuestra que las actividades educativas contribuyen en la formación ambiental de los estudiantes y el desarrollo de las estrategias debería estar en función del nivel educativo y contexto estudiado.
