| Spanish abstract | El propósito del presente texto es hacer hincapié en que las utopías clásicas estuvieron interesadas en los temas de la violencia y los derechos humanos. Los antiguos griegos pensaban que la guerra y la violencia eran naturales e inevitables. Sin embargo, Platón pretende fijar límites a la violencia y en tal sentido, según postulo, implica parte de la primera teoría relativa a los “derechos humanos”. Sucintamente, sugiere controlar la violencia tanto como sea posible, y en ese sentido dio a luz a la primera versión de la “teoría de los derechos humanos”. ¿Acaso no es todavía el “concepto de derechos humanos” nuestra propia y contemporánea utopía? |
| English abstract | The aim of this paper is to enhance that the classics utopias were concerned about the issue of violence and human rights. Ancient Greeks thought that violence and war were natural and inevitable. However, Plato pretends to fix limits to violence and in that way, I postulate, implies part of the first theory of human rights. In brief, ancient utopia suggest controlling violence as far as it is possible, and in that way gave birth to first versions of “human rights” theory. Isn’t the “human rights concept” still our own contemporary utopia? |
