English abstract | This article aims at discussing and characterizing the little man (the John Doe ) syndrome in the work of W. Reich Lis - ten, Little Man ! This is the common and ordinary man, the vulgar and curious guy, the informer, the persecutor, the base man who refuses love, knowledge and self-knowledge as a means to find liberation from his mediocre condition. The little man reveals his human and intellectual impoverishment. He is the cunning guy that presents himself as naïve and a defender of people, but never risks his own skin nor his material or spiritual goods for the people. He only defends ideas that will seemly bring him profits. He is a cold, premeditator and prejudiced per - son. Nevertheless, he believes that the State and the Law may disguise his mask as a coward. John Doe can be the informer of all social, political, medical and human gossips and stories. He can be the trickster, the selfish, the hypocrite, the false moral - ist, the demagogue politician, the corrupt and the incorrigible envious guy. For Reich, John Doe’s lack of love, work and knowl - edge reveals his poor education, the limitation of his conscious - ness and ethical behavior and other characteristics |
