| English abstract | The traditional festivity known as fandango del Sotavento (cultural region that includes southern Veracruz and neighboring areas of Oaxaca and Tabasco) was the kitchen where all the ingredients of what was to become son jarocho were prepared. By the middle of the xx century fandango was barely surviving in the rural areas of Veracruz. This scene changed from the seventies on when movimiento jaranero vindicated fandango as the central axis of jarocho musical, dancing and lyrical practice |
