| Spanish abstract | Objetivo: Este estudio, realizado desde una perspectiva histórica, pretende mostrar la utilidad de los datos contenidos en los censos agrarios para conocer la historia social de los pueblos en general y también contribuir al conocimiento de la historia socioproductiva de los pueblos del río Bavispe, en las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Metodología: La lógica procedimental del proceso de investigación ha permitido combinar elementos cualitativos y cuantitativos, relacionando información obtenida en acervos históricos con fuentes secundarias para identificar formas de actividad económica. Resultados: Se identifican elementos relacionados con el origen y desarrollo de los censos agrarios en México, se muestra su utilidad en procesos de investigación de carácter histórico-social, y se contribuye concretamente al conocimiento de la historia socioproductiva de once pueblos del río Bavispe. Limitaciones: Algunos elementos de dos de las localidades fueron analizados menos profundamente debido a las características de la información localizada. Conclusiones: Con base en los censos agrarios ha sido posible construir una representación socioproductiva sobre el conjunto de estos pueblos para el periodo definido (1915-1940), en el que las áreas agrícolas eran especialmente valoradas y disputadas por los pobladores de la región. Hemos podido observar características de su situación socioproductiva al momento de solicitar tierras: la situación de la mayor parte de los habitantes de estos lugares era socialmente marginal |
| English abstract | Objective: This work, made from a historical perspective, aims to show the usefulness of data contained in agrarian censuses to know the social history of the villages; and contribute to the knowledge of the socio-productive history of the Bavispe River villages in the first decades of the twentieth century. Methodology: The procedural logic of the research process has allowed combining qualitative and quantitative elements by relating information obtained in historical collections with secondary sources, to identify forms of economic activity. Results: Elements related to the origin and development of the agrarian censuses in Mexico are identified, their usefulness in research processes of historical-social character is shown, and concrete contribution is made to the knowledge of the socio-productive history of eleven villages of the Bavispe River. Limitations: Some elements from two of the villages were analyzed less deeply, due to the characteristics of the found information. Conclusions: Based on the agrarian censuses, it has been possible to build a socio-productive representation about those villages for the defined period (1915-1940), in which the agricultural areas were specially valued and disputed by the inhabitants of the region. It has been possible to observe characteristics of their socio-productive situation at the time of requesting land: the situation of most of the inhabitants of these places was socially marginal |
