| Spanish abstract | En esta novela, Roger Casement sueña con una Irlanda libre. Poco a poco, él va tomando conciencia del lo terrible que resulta vivir bajo el poder de Inglaterra. Esa toma de conciencia se produce como resultado de un proceso de deconstrucción a lo largo del cual se desmitifican las aparentes bondades del régimen, en las que él antes creía, y quedan al descubierto vicios como la explotación y la corrupción. Este artículo es un análisis de dicho proceso deconstructivo que involucra no sólo a la patria sino a su propia familia (padre y madre) y a él mismo (su identidad) |
| English abstract | In this novel, Roger Casement dreams about a free Ireland. Little by little, he becomes conscious of how terrible it is to live under English rule. This consciousness is produced thanks to a process of deconstruction throughout which the apparent kindliness of the regime, in which he once believed, is demythified and the vices such as exploitation and corruption are shown. This article is an analysis of this abovementioned deconstructive process that involves not only the country but also the family (father and mother) and he himself (his identity) |
