| Spanish abstract | La profesión docente es una de las más expuestas a padecer las consecuencias negativas del estrés laboral. Si éste se prolonga, la persona puede desarrollar padecimientos físicos, psíquicos y emocionales que, en un momento dado, puede derivar en una situación extrema de sentirse “quemado” (burnout). Pero ¿qué es lo que origina dicho estrés? Y ¿cómo podemos combatirlo? En este artículo analizaremos cómo se origina el estrés en general y, de manera particular, las causas más comunes que dan lugar a un estrés negativo en la labor docente. Presentaremos también diversas estrategias que nos pueden ayudar para manejarlo y, con esto, desarrollar las habilidades socioemocionales que permitirán al maestro manejar sus emociones mediante el autoconocimiento |
| English abstract | Teaching is considered one of the most exposed professions to negative consequences related to labor stress, and if the stress situation prevails, teachers may develop physical, psychological and emotional problems that can lead them to an extreme situation of feeling “burnout”. But, what causes this stress? And how can we fight it? This article discusses how stress is originated in general and it focuses in the most common causes that generate a negative stress in the teaching field. We will also present different strategies that can help us to manage it, and in so doing, help teachers to develop the social-emotional skills that will allow them to handle their emotions through self-knowledge |
