| Spanish abstract | Este artículo tiene como propósito central, examinar la génesis de los estilos musicales antillanos: ska y reggae. Y como estos se diseminaron desde su Jamaica natal hacia Inglaterra durante los años 60 y 70, para volver a recaer nuevamente en América Latina, esta vez, en el cono sur, específicamente el Chile de los años 80 del siglo pasado. Este recorrido cultural de transhumancia musical se interpretará a la luz de la metáfora de Caliban propuesta por el investigador cubano Roberto Fernández Retamar en 1971 en su libro del mismo nombre |
| English abstract | This paper aims to examine the genesis of Antillean musical styles: ska and reggae.
