| Spanish abstract | Se pretende analizar las causas del atraso argentino, comparando las experiencias de este país del cono sur de América con respecto a las economías de Australia y Canadá. Mediante la construcción de un índice de libertad económica y a partir de un estudio de cointegración y de causalidad, para el período comprendido en el último cuarto del siglo XX (1875 a 2000). Los resultados obtenidos muestran que, efectivamente, y tal como se sostiene en la historiografía argentina, las políticas económicas implementadas han podido condicionar la evolución relativa y a largo plazo de la economía Argentina |
| English abstract | This work is intended to analyze the causes of the Argentinian backwardness, and at the same time to compare these experiences of this South American country to those of Australia and Canada, through the construction of an economic freedom rate and a study on cointegration and causality, covering the last quarter of the twentieth century (1875 to 2000). The obtained results actually show, as it is established in the Argentinian historiography, that the implement ted economic policies have conditioned the relative and long term evolution of the Argentinian economy |
