| Spanish abstract | Los meningiomas representan los tumores meníngeos benignos más comunes, cuya expresión clínica se encuentra directamente relacionada con su dimensión, ubicación y subsecuente compresión del tejido neural contiguo. Generalmente, el diagnóstico es un hallazgo incidental. Las alternativas de tratamiento pueden variar de paciente a paciente y, en algunos casos, el manejo quirúrgico puede ser un desafío. El presente reporte de caso corresponde al de un paciente atendido en el servicio de urgencias del Hospital Universitario San Ignacio en el 2012, a quien se le descubrió un meningioma selar gigante asociado con un síndrome frontal florido secundario |
| English abstract | Meningiomas represent by far the most common benign meningeal tumors, which clinical features are directly in relation with its dimension, location, and the subsequent compression in the continuous neural tissue. Usually, the diagnostic is an incidental finding. Alternatives of treatment vary from patient to patient; in some cases surgical treatment can be a challenge. We present a case report attended in the Emergency Department at San Ignacio University Hospital in 2012, in a patient in whom a giant sellae meningioma was discovered and presented a florid frontal syndrome |
