| English abstract | This article analyzes the intertextual relations in Claude Simon’s novel, especially La bataille de Pharsale (1969), regarding the presence of the Latin intertext. Since its title, which refers to the final combat of the Second Roman Civil War (49-45 b.C) there are indications of this. Throughout the novel, there are also excerpts in Latin in addition to other graphically marked quotations from the French culture. Thus, the Latin text becomes part of the French text not by the linguistic aspect, but by the literary criteria. According to Gérard Genette’s Palimpsestes, there is also the possibility of saying that works like Caesar’s or Lucan’s are hipotexts for a hypertext. The presence of this Latin intertext does not seem to be just a quotation, as on Caesar’s passages, but because it seems to act like a way of production of a new narrative by a new temporal relation |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo analisa as relações intertextuais no romance de Claude Simon, em especial, La bataille de Pharsale (1969), de Claude Simon, quanto à presença do intertexto latino. Desde seu título, que remete ao combate final da Segunda Guerra Civil Romana (49-45 a.C.), temos essa indicação. Ao longo do romance, também temos excertos em latim inseridos em diversos pontos, além de outras citações marcadas graficamente vindas da cultura francesa. Desse modo, o texto latino se torna parte do texto francês, não pelo critério linguístico, mas pelo literário. Nos termos de Gérard Genette, em Palimpsestes, há a possibilidade de se dizer que obras como a de César ou a de Lucano são hipotextos para um hipertexto. A presença desse intertexto latino não parece atuar como mera citação, como no caso das passagens de César, mas também como meio para a construção de uma narrativa inovadora por uma nova relação temporal |
