| Spanish abstract | En las biografías culturales sobre elementos materiales se exploran los roles de los objetos en las dinámicas sociales, teniendo en cuenta que el ciclo de vida de la cultura material está anclado al universo social y simbólico de las personas. Usando testimonios orales recolectados en la población rural de Teuchitlán, el presente ar- tículo expone la biografía cultural del sitio arqueológico Los Guachimontones, que es un conjunto de estructuras arquitectónicas precolombinas cuya arquitectura singular e importancia histórica, lo han posicionado actualmente como un destino turístico y cultural. Tres periodos principales de Los Guachimontones son reconstruidos utilizando las voces de los entrevistados, quienes en- trelazan sus propias biografías con la historia de este espacio milenario |
| English abstract | In the cultural biographies about material elements we explore the role of objects in social dynamics, understanding that the life cycle of material culture is rooted in the social and symbolic world of the people who interact with it. Using the oral testimo- nies collected among a sample of residents in Teuchitlan, this article describes the cultural biography of the archaeological site called Los Guachimontones, a group of pre-Columbian architectural structures whose unique shapes and historical importance have positioned them as a tourist and cultural destination. Three main periods of the site are reconstructed using the voices of the respondents, whom interweave their own biographies with the site’s history |
