| Spanish abstract | Es importante comprender aquí el alcance de las nociones de enraizamiento y paganismo, cuya presencia cobra nueva relevancia en nuestros días. Subrayo la palabra “alcance”. Creo demostrar, en efecto, que dicha presencia implica mucho más que un simple anacronismo, como si esas palabras carecieran de significado para nuestro tiempo o como si estuvieran fuera de lugar. Por el contrario, la fuerza de movimientos “nacionalistas”, “nativistas” y “racistas” como el que encabeza el nuevo inquilino de la Casa Blanca o el que lideran otros más en Europa, sientan las bases para “repensar” tales nociones. Allí tenemos la oportunidad de pensar y esclarecer el debate. No se trata, ciertamente, de presentar los resultados de una investigación rigurosamente académica a que lleve el debate a su lugar de origen ni agote la discusión. A fin de comprender la relación entre dichas palabras y la interpretación que haré de ellas, referiré esta problemática al enraizamiento, por un lado, y, por el otro, a su repetición y discusión en nuestro tiempo. Dicha discusión, tomada en su aspecto más general, concierne a la estrecha afinidad entre el carácter pagano de la tradición griega y la apropiación política que de ella hacen ciertos movimientos contemporáneos, revelando ciertos males de la civilización occidental. | English abstract | It is important to understand here the scope of the notions of rooting and paganism, whose presence takes on new relevance in our days. I underline the word “reach”. I believe, to demonstrate, in fact, that such presence implies much more than a simple anachronism, as if those words lacked meaning for our time or as if they were out of place. On the contrary, the strength of “nationalist”, “nativist” and “racist” movements such as the one headed by the new tenant of the White House or the one led by others in Europe, lay the foundations to “rethink” such notions. There we have the opportunity to think and clarify the debate. It is certainly not about presenting the results of a rigorously academic research to bring the debate to its place of origin or exhaust the discussion. In order to understand the relationship between these words and the interpretation that I will make of them, I will refer this problem to the rooting, on the one hand, and, on the other, to its repetition and discussion in our time. This discussion, taken in its most general aspect, concerns the close affinity between the pagan character of the Greek tradition and the political appropriation that certain contemporary movements make of it, revealing certain evils of Western civilization.
