Spanish abstract | The processes of accumulation of heavy metals in soils are a serious risk for all living beings. Soil macrofauna also is affected and can be an indicator of soil pollution and used to assess its quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the presence and influence of available soil cadmium and lead on the density and diversity of soil macrofauna in cultivated cacao under organic management. In coordination with Agrarian Cooperative La Divisoria, 22 plots of organically farmed cacao were selected in the Huanuco (17) and Ucayali (5) regions. From each plot a composite soil sample was obtained to perform physical and chemical analyses according to established methodologies. The evaluation of soil macrofauna was carried out from soil monoliths of 25 x 25 x 20 cm from which were manually-collected macrofaunal individuals. The average content of available cadmium and lead in soils were 0.53 ppm and 3.02 ppm respectively. The average macrofauna density was 511±374 -2 individuals·m with the predominant taxa Hymenoptera and Oligochaeta having an average density of -2 -2 213±258 individuals·m (41.8 %) and 111±107 individuals·m (21.8 %), respectively. It was concluded that Isoptera density presented significant positive correlation with the content of available soil cadmium |
