| English abstract | This article aims at an understanding of the concept Secularization in the sense discussed by the Sociology of Religion, specifically in comprehensive sociology of Max Weber. So then do a review of the peculiar and ambiguous process of secularization Brazil, emphasizing the project of secular education, to then realize that the space was occupied Religious Education in this historic process. | Portuguese abstract | Este artigo pretende uma compreensão do conceito de Secularização no sentido discutido pela Sociologia da Religião, especificamente na sociologia compreensiva de Max Weber. Daí então fazer uma revisão do peculiar e ambíguo processo de secularização brasileiro, dando ênfase ao projeto laico de educação, para então perceber o espaço que o Ensino Religioso foi ocupando nesse processo histórico, estando em primeiro momento configurado como doutrina ou ensino para a prática religiosa, em segundo como formação ética e de valores morais e em terceiro momento como conhecimento cultural das diferentes práticas religiosas, considerando a realidade plural brasileira |
