| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo busca reflexionar sobre el estilo característico del artículo científico desde la perspectiva de la edición de textos. Parte de la concepción dominante en torno a este género discursivo: una copia fiel de la investigación realizada, y de las recomendaciones estilísticas derivadas de esta concepción: formas neutras, objetivas y precisas, que se consiguen mediante procedimientos sintácticos específicos. Tras analizar ejemplos concretos de las formas en que los actores involucrados en la edición científica (autores, revisores, editores y correctores) se apegan a estas recomendaciones, concluye que su adopción indiscriminada suele provocar ambigüedades y dificultar la lectura del artículo científico, lo que atenta contra el fin último de este género discursivo. Por último, señala la importancia de asumir una actitud crítica ante el ampliamente recomendado estilo de no tener estilo, como lo ha bautizado Joseph Gusfield |
| English abstract | This work reflects upon the characteristic style of the scientific paper from the text ed-iting perspective. Its starting point is the dominant conception around this discursive genre: that it should be a faithful copy of the research carried out, and the stylistic rec-ommendations derived from this conception: that it should use neutral, objective and precise forms, which are achieved through specific syntactic procedures. After analyzing concrete examples of the ways in which the actors involved in scientific editing (authors, reviewers, editors and proofreaders) adhere to these recommendations, it concludes that their indiscriminate adoption usually causes ambiguities and makes reading the paper difficult, which attempts against the ultimate goal of this discursive genre. Finally, the work points out the importance of assuming a critical attitude towards the widely recom-mended style of nonstyle, as named by Joseph Gusfield |
