| Spanish abstract | La recepción crítica del soneto “Miré los muros de la patria mía” ha oscilado entre dos distintas interpretaciones: la moral y la patriótica. Para afirmar que su carácter es eminentemente moral, es preciso acudir a instancias conocidas y a otras antes ignoradas. Así, tenemos las fuentes latinas y estoicas, tan preciadas por el poeta. Igualmente, existen algunos aspectos de la tradición literaria y cristiana de la muerte que, imbricados con los conceptos estoicos, terminan por confeccionar un carácter moral y penitencial. La temporalidad en el poema refleja la angustiante muerte moral que, a su vez, recorrerá todo el corpus del Heráclito cristiano |
| English abstract | The critical reception of the sonnet “Miré los muros de la patria mía” has oscillated between two interpretations: the moral one and the patriotic one. To affirm that his character is eminently moral, it is precise to respond to known instances and to others before ignored comments.
