| Spanish abstract | La Iglesia católica desempeñó un papel relevante en la reconstrucción de la Ciudad de México, después del terremoto de 1985. Entre todos los actores católicos que encabezaron este proceso, una orden religiosa fue la que obtuvo el papel protagónico: la Compañía de Jesús. Un jesuita lideró la reconstrucción, desempeñando una función relevante dentro de la estructura jerárquica, y colaboró en forma estricta con el Gobierno mexicano; sin embargo, hubo jesuitas que, durante el proceso de reconstrucción de la ciudad, encabezaron un movimiento de protesta hacia el Gobierno y también mostraron su inconformidad con la jerarquía católica |
| English abstract | The Catholic Church played an important role in the reconstruction of Mexico City, after the 1985 earthquake. Among all the Catholic actors who led this process, one religious order was surely the protagonist: The Society of Jesus. A Jesuit led the reconstruction, playing a relevant role within the hierarchy structure, collaborating strictly with the Mexican government, however, there were Jesuits who, in the reconstruction of the city, led a protest movement towards the government and also they were dissatisfied with the Catholic hierarchy |
