| Spanish abstract | El artículo menciona las respuestas que dieron las autoridades, las corporaciones y la elite de Guadalajara a la invasión napoleónica a España en 1808. A diferencia de lo que propuso el ayuntamiento de la ciudad de México, en esta capital provincial, en donde la fricción criollo–peninsular no había alcanzado signos peligrosos, las fuerzas representativas se opusieron a que se instalara una junta gubernativa independiente de las de España.
