| English abstract | The aim of this article is to analyze the specifics of the Jesuit colleges in the context of European society in transition to modern times and, at the same time, characterize the Jesuit pedagogy. For this, the research had as its main source the Ratio Studiorum, study plans of the Company of Jesus, approved in 1599, to be adopted in all Jesuit colleges, establishing rules to be followed by pupils and teachers. The article focuses on the teaching as an essential activity of the colleges and through the teaching, the features of Jesuit pedagogy are brought out. Finally, there is a reflection on the colleges as a creation of the modern world |
| Portuguese abstract | Com este artigo objetivamos analisar a especificidade dos colégios jesuíticos no contexto da sociedade européia em transição para a Modernidade e, ao mesmo tempo, caracterizar a pedagogia jesuítica. Para tanto, a pesquisa teve como fonte principal o Ratio Studiorum, plano de estudos da Companhia de Jesus, aprovado em 1599 para ser adotado em todos os colégios jesuíticos, estabelecendo regras a serem seguidas por alunos e professores. O artigo focaliza o ensino como atividade essencial dos colégios e é por meio dele que evidencia os traços da pedagogia jesuítica.
