| English abstract | Research using the bibliographic review type which aims to analyze the production of knowledge about Burnout Syndrome using the Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online) database. The period of 2000 to 2009 limited the search for articles with the following markers: Burnout Syndrome and Burnout. Twenty five articles were found, 60% of which deal with the health care professionals, 20% with the teachers, 4% with civil police officers, 4% deal with patients from psychiatric clinics and 12% belong to other categories. As to the main focus of the productions, the majority aimed to analyze the dominance of the Burnout Syndrome. Not much is known about the disease, its development, treatment and prevention. | Portuguese abstract | Pesquisa do tipo bibliográfica cujo objetivo é analisar a produção do conhecimento sobre a Síndrome de Burnout na base de dados Scielo - Scientific Electronic Llibrary Online. O período de 2000 a 2009 delimitou a busca dos artigos com os seguintes descritores: Síndrome de Burnout e Burnout. Foram encontrados 25 artigos, destes 60% abordam os profissionais da saúde, 20% os professores, 4% os policiais civis, 4% paciente atendido em clínica psiquiátrica e 12% fazem parte de outras categorias. Quanto ao foco central das produções, a maioria teve por objetivo analisar a prevalência da Síndrome de Burnout. Pouco ainda se conhece sobre a doença, seu desenvolvimento, tratamento e prevenção. Diante da importância desta, para a Saúde Pública é fundamental o desenvolvimento de um número maior de pesquisas sobre suas causas e tratamento |
