| Spanish abstract | Este artículo es una propuesta de abordaje, tanto clínico como terapéutico, de los pacientes que consultan a urgencias por presentar un cuadro de hemorragia digestiva aguda. Señala las prioridades en la atención de estos enfermos, enfatiza el papel de la clínica en su evaluación y ofrece una secuencia lógica de las intervenciones médicas. Muestra cómo la atención inicial del paciente, que es la de mayor impacto, la puede realizar exitosamente el médico general bien entrenado |
| English abstract | This paper presents a clinical and therapeutic approach to acute gastrointestinal bleeding patients when they arrive to an emergency room. Author also focused the priorities to treat them and stressed the role of clinical skills to achieve a rapid and correct state evaluation and proposes a logical sequence of medical interventions. Finally this paper shows the important role that general physicians perform in the management of these patients |
