| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo surge de la investigación realizada sobre la historia de la enseñanza de la matemática universitaria en el Estado Soberano de Bolívar del Caribe Colombiano en el siglo XIX, donde se pretendió preparar profesionales en diferentes áreas y profesores de ciencias exactas y naturales, para de aliviar el défi cit de técnicos necesarios en la construcción de vías, el desarrollo de la navegación y la preparación de docentes de enseñanza superior. El Instituto Boliviano fue un intento fallido como institución de educación superior, independiente de la Universidad de Cartagena, que quiso dar oportunidades de estudio a los jóvenes de la región |
| English abstract | This article is a result of research into the history of the teaching of university mathematics in the Sovereign State of Bolívar of the Colombian Caribe in the 19th century, where they hoped to prepare professionals in different areas and professors of exact and natural sciences to lessen the deficit of needed technicians for the construction of roads, the development of navigation and the preparation of teachers for higher education. Independent of the University of Cartagena, the Bolivian Institute was a failed intent as an institution of higher education, which desired to give opportunities of study to young men of the region |
