| Spanish abstract | Se presenta un método para calibrar barómetros remotos mediante el uso de sondeos atmosféricosverticales virtuales (READY, NOAA) y barómetros patrones de apoyo localizados a menos de 28 km de losbarómetros remotos. La aplicación del método al barómetro remoto GPS2con apoyo del barómetro patrónUB2001A situado a 5 km de distancia produjo una calibración que indica sumar 1.96±0.16 hPa al GPS2para obtener la presión verdadera. El método puede ser usado en casi cualquier parte del mundo pero con algunas restricciones |
| English abstract | This paper presents a method to calibrate remote barometers through the use of virtual vertical at-mospheric soundings (READY, NOAA) and reference barometers located less than 28 km from the remotebarometers. The application of the method to the remote barometer GPS2 with the help of the pattern ba-rometer UB2001A situated 5 km from the GPS2 and some READY soundings gives the calibration rule ofsum 1.96±0.16 hPa to GPS2 outputs to obtain true pressure. The method may be used in nearly any placeof the world but with some restrictions |
