Spanish abstract Las universidades autónomas por ley están obligadas a los ejercicios de rendición pública de cuentas, transparencia, evaluación externa y control interno instaurados por el Estado mexicano a través de normas e instituciones en la materia? Este artículo aborda el tema, con el propósito de identificar los principales puntos de inflexión en las relaciones entre el Estado y las universidades autónomas durante el siglo pasado y en el actual. Antes que brindar una respuesta novedosa al interrogante inicial, el recorrido busca reflejar la cambiante perspectiva de las instituciones y agentes involucrados en esta problemática
English abstract Are autonomous universities required by law to adhere to the standards for the public rendering of accounts, transparency, outside evaluation, and internal control as implemented by the Mexican government through norms and institutions? This article addresses the topic in order to identify the main points of inflection in the relationship between the government and autonomous universities during the current and past centuries. Before offering a novel response to the initial question, the article seeks to reflect on the changing perspective of the institutions and agents involved in the problem
