| English abstract | Sigmund Freud, in a clear and appropriate way, knew how to explain brilliantly the uneasiness of civilization. Zygmund Bauman has found in Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, the support for the development of a new complementary and signifi cantly actual work on the subject. Bauman did not take over Freud’s ideas but in a certain way absorbed its essence in order to attain the post-modern man. Bauman goes deeply into the bruise previously diagnosed by Freud and fi nds a cancer. He reveals all the consequences of the despised and non-treated infi rmities of the civilized man, which had been announced by Freud to the modern man, and revealed no good news to the postmodern man |
| Portuguese abstract | Sigmund Freud, de forma clara e apropriada, soube brilhantemente discorrer sobre o mal-estar da civilização. Zygmunt Bauman encontrou na obra do fundador da psicanálise um suporte para o desenvolvimento de outra obra, complementar e signifi cativamente atualizadora da questão. Bauman não se apropriou da obra de Freud, mas, num certo sentido, apoderou-se de sua essência para alvejar o homem pós-moderno. Bauman abre a ferida que Freud diagnosticou e encontra um câncer. Revela todas as conseqüências da desprezada e não tratada enfermidade do homem civilizado, anunciada por Freud ao homem moderno, e não tem boas notícias para o homem pós-moderno |
