| Spanish abstract | El Síndrome de Burnout es una de las manifestaciones que más afecta a los profesionales de la salud, con diversas consecuencias para ellos y para quienes los rodean. Es también, una de las causas más reconocidas de ausentismo en el trabajo, de baja calidad en la atención y de demandas laborales. El objetivo del trabajo fue conocer la prevalencia del síndrome entre los residentes de las especialidades médico quirúrgica de hospitales universitarios, su relación con el bienestar psicológico y con variables sociodemográfi cas y laborales. El estudio de prevalencia analítica contó con una muestra de 138 residentes a quienes se les aplicó, el Cuestionario Breve de Burnout (CBB), que evalúa tres dimensiones de sus condiciones de trabajo: causas del Burnout (CBO), síndrome (SBO) y consecuencias (CON). El 12,6% de los residentes presentó un alto nivel de Burnout y el análisis estadístico evidenció una asociación negativa entre el Burnout y el bienestar psicológico y entre éste último y las largas horas de trabajo. No se encontraron asociaciones estadísticamente significativas con las variables sociodemográficas y laborales |
| English abstract | The Syndrome of Burnout is one of the manifestations that most affects the health professionals; with diverse consequences for them and their surroundings. It is one of the most recognized causes of job absenteeism, low quality care and laboral lawsuits. The aim of this study was to fi nd the prevalence of the Syndrome among the residents of the medical surgical specialties of university hospitals, as well as its relation with sociodemographic and labor variables and the Psychological wellbeing. The present study of analytical prevalence included a sample of 138 residents to whom the Brief Questionnaire of Burnout (CBB) was administered to measure the level of the Syndrome. This questionnaire consists of three dimensions in working conditions: causes of Burnout (CBO); Syndrome (SBO) and consequences (CON). 12,6% of the residents presented a high level of Burnout. The statistical analysis showed a negative association between the Burnout and the psychological wellbeing and between the latter and long working hours. Statistically signifi cant associations with the sociodemographic and labor variables were not found |
