| English abstract | Environmental education and sustainability have implications for the economic, cultural, ethical, social and spiritual inclusion of peoples. The commitments of international organizations such as United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other NGOs such as Wild World Foundation have allowed a series of conferences and declarations to be held calling for global engagement. Despite these intentions and commitments, the state of the planet goes from bad to worse. That is why the 2030 Agenda insisted on the need to implement initiatives and participate in promoting environmental education and sustainable development. It is based on this perspective that the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences in Lubango opened the Master in Science Teaching, having as one of the modules Social problems of science, technology and environment. The module's objective is to train students in the participation of building resilient communities through the massification of environmental education from the fundamental level to higher education with the inclusion of new ecological components, placing the dimension of environmental education at the center of student affairs and current practices. In this communication we use the qualitative and quantitative method and present a review on the impact of the problem of environmental education and its relationship with sustainable development, we synthesize the types of environmental problems identified by students and their understanding of the need for massive environmental education within of young students |
| Portuguese abstract | A educação ambiental e a sustentabilidade têm implicações no domínio económico, cultural, ético, inclusão social e espiritual dos povos. Os compromissos dos organismos internacionais como a Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação a Ciência e a Cultura (UNESCO, por suas siglas em inglês) e outras ONGs como Fundo Mundial para Natureza (WWF, por suas siglas em inglês) permitiram a realização de uma série de conferências e declarações apelando o engajamento mundial. Apesar de tais intenções e compromissos, o estado do planeta vai de mal para o pior. Por isso a Agenda 2030 insistiu na necessidade de implementação de iniciativas e participação de todos na promoção da educação ambiental e do desenvolvimento sustentável. É com base nesta perspectiva que o Instituto Superior de Ciências da Educação no Lubango abriu o Mestrado em Ensino das Ciências, tendo como um dos módulos Problemas sociais das ciências, tecnologia e ambiente. O objectivo do módulo é o de treinar os estudantes na participação da construção de comunidades resilientes através da massificação da educação ambiental desde o nível fundamental ao ensino superior com a inclusão de novos componentes ecológicos, colocando a dimensão da educação ambiente no centro dos assuntos estudantis e práticas actuais. Nesta comunicação usamos o método qualitativo e quantitativo e apresentamos uma resenha sobre o impacto da problemática da educação ambiental e sua relação com o desenvolvimento sustentável sintetizou os tipos de problemas ambientais identificados pelos estudantes e a sua compreensão sobre a necessidade da educação ambiental massiva no seio dos jovens estudantes |
