| English abstract | This article has the objective of analyzing the narrative forms in detective novels from the past, especially from the nineteenth century. Our interest is understanding how they may have organized the meanings of media narratives about violence nowadays. The time period chosen as a frame for this study covers a key moment of the discourse of psychiatry. The discipline started building specialized discourses about monstrosity and abnormalities which became important for the understanding of contemporary crime narratives. It is understood that the past contributes to the formation of culture this way. Thus, only by seeking to understand how, genealogically, the narratives are formed, we can understand the ways in which society is organized today. The media produces discourses that are structured as plots of crime novels and this romantic form of reporting the facts strengthens the criminalization of individuals and does not allow other forms of understanding it beyond the alleged monstrosity of the perpetrator, the solidarity with the victim and the elation of the hero |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo tem o objetivo de analisar como as formas de narrativas dos romances policiais no passado, especialmente do século XIX, podem ter organizado os sentidos das narrativas midiáticas sobre violência nos dias de hoje. O tempo escolhido como recorte para este estudo abarca um momento chave do discurso da psiquiatria, quando se constroem discursos especializados sobre monstruosidade e anormalidade, e que se tornam importantes para a compreensão das narrativas criminais contemporâneas. Entende-se que o passado contribui para as formações dos sentidos da cultura no presente e que apenas buscando apreender como, genealogicamente, as narrativas se constituíram, podemos compreender as formas de organização da sociedade atual. A mídia produz discursos que se estruturam como enredos de romances policiais. Este formato romântico de noticiar os fatos reforça a criminalização dos sujeitos, e não permite outras formas de compreensão das realidades para além da crença na monstruosidade do culpado, na solidariedade para com a vítima e na exaltação do herói |
