| English abstract | A trip to the moon, the famous film made by Georges Méliès, captures modern age’s essence (and the essence of what cinema would become) in three different aspects which can be identified either in the commercial trajectory of the film, either in its themes: first, like the future condition of cinema as spectacle-art, trying to recognize itself in these terms and incapable of separating one thing from another; second, the recognition of modernity’s technical-industrial condition, being the film itself an inventory of themes such as positivism and colonialism. And last, the film points to a more authorial and artistic dimension of cinema, through its relations with magic, prestidigitation and poetry |
| Portuguese abstract | Viagem à Lua, o famoso filme de Georges Méliès, captura a essência da era moderna e do que o cinema em si se transformaria em três frentes que podem ser identificadas tanto na trajetória comercial do filme quanto nos temas que trabalha: primeiro, uma filiação à futura condição do cinema como arte-espetáculo, procurando reconhecer-se como tal e sendo incapaz de distinguir uma coisa da outra; em segundo lugar, o reconhecimento da própria condição técnico-industrial da modernidade, sendo o filme um inventário de temas positivistas, colonialistas, progressistas; por último, o filme aponta para uma dimensão mais autoral e artística do cinema, através de sua relação com a mágica, a magia e a poesia |
