| English abstract | The concept of potency has, in the occidental philosophy, a long history and, at least from Aristotle, it occupies a central place of it. In this article, Giorgio Agamben shows us how Aristotle looked for exhaustingly to collate with the ambiguities and the aporias of his theory of the potency. The figure of the potency that he extracts of this reading compels us to not only rethink the relation between the potency and the act, between possible and real, but the understanding of the alive being is all that must be revoked in question, if is truth that the life must be thought as a potency that incessantly exceeds its forms and its accomplishments |
| Portuguese abstract | O conceito de potência tem, na filosofia ocidental, uma longa história e, pelo menos a partir de Aristóteles, ocupa um lugar central dentro dela. Neste artigo, Giorgio Agamben mostra-nos como Aristóteles procurou confrontar-se exaustivamente com as ambigüidades e as aporias da sua teoria da potência. A figura da potência que ele extrai dessa leitura obriga-nos a repensar não apenas a relação entre a potência e o ato, entre o possível e o real, mas é toda a compreensão do ser vivo que deve ser revogada em questão, se é verdade que a vida deve ser pensada como uma potência que excede incessantemente as suas formas e as suas realizações |
