| English abstract | This article presents the criticizes of poet Titus Lucretius Carus to religious superstitions of the roman people in the poem De rerum natura, as well as the proposal for overcoming them through the correct understanding of the nature of the things and the gods, in the light of the teachings of Epicurus. | Portuguese abstract | O presente artigo expõe a critica do poeta Tito Lucrécio Caro às superstições religiosas do povo romano no poema De rerum natura, assim como a proposta de superação delas por meio da correta compreensão da natureza das coisas e dos deuses, à luz dos ensinamentos de Epicuro.
