| Spanish abstract | La linfangioleiomiomatosis (LAM) es un trastorno sistémico lentamente progresivo, muy raro, que casi exclusivamente afecta a mujeres en edad reproductiva; es muy probable que siempre exista involucro pulmonar. Se han descrito dos variantes clínicas, la SLAM (LAM esporádica) y la TSC-LAM (LAM asociada al complejo de esclerosis tuberosa). La enfermedad tiene un curso clínico lento que lleva eventualmente a insuficiencia respiratoria. A pesar de una amplia gama de opciones terapéuticas, hasta la fecha no hay un tratamiento específico que tenga impacto en la morbimortalidad. Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 34 años con disnea, enfermedad quística pulmonar corroborada por tomografía y diagnóstico histológico de LAM |
| English abstract | Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare, slowly progressive systemic disease, affecting mainly women during their reproductive years; lung involvement is the rule. Two clinical forms are recognized: S-LAM (sporadic) and TSC (associated to Tuberous Sclerosis Complex). The disease has a slow progressive course that eventually leads to respiratory insufficiency. Despite a wide variety of therapeutic options, there is no single treatment with a beneficial effect on morbidity and mortality. We present the case of a 34 year old woman with dyspnea, lung cysts on CT scan and histologic diagnosis of LAM |
