| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo destaca la importancia de las recientes modificaciones que se hicieron a la legislación nacional en las que se otorgan a la Secretaría de Marina (SEMAR) algunas atribuciones que eran de la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT), entre ellas, el ejercicio de la autoridad en materia de protección marítima y portuaria. Asimismo, advierte la necesidad de la participación de la SEMAR en la adhesión de México a dos instrumentos de la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI) en materia de terrorismo marítimo: El Convenio Internacional para la Represión de Actos Ilícitos contra la Seguridad en la Navegación Marítima (SUA´05), y su Protocolo para la Represión de Actos Ilícitos contra la Seguridad de las Plataformas Fijas Emplazadas en la Plataforma Continental (Protocolo SUA’05) |
| English abstract | This article highlights the importance of recent amendments to national legislation, which give the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) some of the responsibilities that formerly belonged to the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT). Among these new amendments, we find the exercise of authority on maritime and port security. This article also states the necessity of SEMAR’s participation in the accession of Mexico to a couple of instruments of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on maritime terrorism: the International Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation (SUA’05), and its Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Fixed Platforms Located on the Continental Shelf (SUA’05 Protocol) |
