| Spanish abstract | Mezcla sutil de lubricidad gestual, de liviandad verbal y de ambigüedad discursiva, los cantos eróticos nahuas de inspiración prehispánica recopilados por frailes españoles en el siglo XVI tenían funciones específicas, las cuales definían a su vez su índole genérica. Prohibidos en su versión original después de la Conquista, unas adaptaciones más “decentes” de estos cantos-bailes traviesos se escenificaban en distintas fiestas del calendario cristiano. En estas nuevas circunstancias, es probable que los gestos “obscenos”, ya vetados, hayan encontrado un refugio en la clandestinidad de un lenguaje figurado, dilógico y alburero |
| English abstract | As a subtle mixture of gestural lubricity, verbal licentiousness and discursive ambiguity, the erotic Nahua chants of pre-Hispanic inspiration compiled by the Spanish friars during the sixteenth century had specific functions, which defined at the same time their generic nature. Prohibited in their original versions after the Conquest, some more “decent” adaptations of these lively chantdances were dramatized on different feasts of the Christian calendar. In these new circumstances, it is likely that the “obscene” gestures, already banned, had found a refugee in the secrecy of figurative, dilogic or delusive language |
