| Spanish abstract | La espiral es el diseño precolombino que con mayor frecuencia aparece en el arte rupestre de Nariño, sin embargo, hasta el momento no se han determinado las propiedades geométricas de esta representación. En este sentido, se realizó un estudio estadístico de una muestra de 44 espirales representadas en petroglifos del sector noroccidental del Municipio de Pasto, en el cual se indagó sobre: el número de espirales de acuerdo con la dirección de su giro, dimensiones de las espirales, tramos y números de vueltas de los grabados y el tipo de espiral trazada. La investigación permitió determinar que el diseño en cuestión corresponde a una espiral de dos centros, lo cual arroja las primeras evidencias a favor de la existencia de patrones geométricos en la elaboración de estos vestigios arqueológicos |
| English abstract | The spiral figure is the Pre-Columbian design that appears most frequently on the rock art in Nariño, however, until now the geometrical properties have not been determined by this representation. Thus, a statistical study is carried out of a sample of the 44 spirals represented in the petroglyphs of the north-western sector of the Municipality of Pasto, in which the following is researched: number of spirals according to the direction of their movement, dimensions of the spirals, lines and number of turns of the engravings and the type of the spiral traced. The research allowed us to determine that the design in question corresponds to a spiral of two centres, which sheds light on the first evidence in favour of the existence of geometrical patterns in the elaboration of these archaeological vestiges |
