| Spanish abstract | Uno de los motivos esenciales en la obra del argentino Jorge Luis Borges es el del laberinto. El presente trabajo tiene el propósito de determinar las dimensiones, las características y los posibles significados que adquiere el laberinto en una selección de ocho cuentos y dos poemas que pertenecen a Ficciones, El Aleph, El libro de arena y Elogio de la sombra. En una primera parte, se revisa lo que es el laberinto en el marco de la cultura occidental. En segundo lugar, se analizan las imágenes físicas del laberinto. Posteriormente, se estudia el laberinto metafísico y la presencia de conceptos como el tiempo, la identidad y la duplicación. | English abstract | One of the essential motifs in the work by the Argentine Jorge Luis Borges is that of the labyrinth. The present work is intended to determine the dimensions, the characteristics and the possible meanings that the labyrinth acquires in a selection of eight stories and two poems that belong to Collected Fictions, The Aleph, The Book of Sand and Eulogy of the Shadow. In the first part, the labyrinth is reviewed within the framework of western culture. In the second part, physical images of the labyrinth are analyzed. Subsequently, the metaphysical labyrinth and the presence of concepts such as time, identity and duplication are studied. Finally, the labyrinth is considered as a form of structural organization of the text |
