| English abstract | This paper aims to elucidate the central arguments of Habermas’s theory of modernity. Instead of abandoning it, Habermas tries to reconstruct the project of modern emancipation through the reconstruction of the foundations of rationality of action and social rationalization from: the reconstruction of the explanation and critical overcoming of the unilateral and functionalist interpretations of Max Weber and Talcott Parsons, and of the foundation for a theory of communicative rationality able to be disengaged from the subjectivist and individualistic assumptions of the modern social theory |
| Portuguese abstract | O objetivo do artigo é elucidar os argumentos centrais da teoria da modernidade de Habermas. Em vez de abandoná-lo, Habermas procura reconstruir o projeto de emancipação moderno através da reconstrução dos fundamentos da racionalidade da ação e da racionalização social moderna a partir: da reconstrução da explicação e superação crítica das interpretações unilaterais e funcionalistas de Max Weber e Talcott Parsons, e da fundamentação de uma teoria da racionalidade comunicativa capaz de se desvencilhar dos pressupostos subjetivistas e individualistas da teoria social moderna |
