| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se pretende analizar la representación de la categoría patológico-criminal del homosexual propia de principio del siglo XX, en el cuento “Un hombre muerto a puntapiés” (1926), del ecuatoriano Pablo Palacio. Para ello, se identifican los elementos narratológicos de voz, focalización, tiempo y modalidad; así como el título, el epígrafe, el íncipit, la intradiégesis y la hipodiégesis. Una vez identificados, se describe la forma como estos elementos y recursos contribuyen con la generación de la experiencia y realidad homofóbicas. Tal análisis se apoya en algunos principios teóricos de la narratología, la teoría queer, la sociocrítica y la semiótica, a fin de ofrecer una lectura hermenéutica. Se concluye que a través del narrador se da una (re)afirmación transindividual del habitus homofóbico y la injuria, hasta llegar a constituir todo el cuento como un asesinato de carácter. Se demuestra, además, hasta dónde el prejuicio homofóbico, el relato injurioso y el doble asesinato |
| English abstract | This article analyses the representation of the homosexual pathologic-criminal category of early 20th Century, in the tale “Un hombre muerto a puntapiés” (1926), of the Ecuadorian Pablo Palacio. To that end, narratological elements of voice, focus, time and modality, as well as title, heading, incipit, intra-diegesis and extra-diegesis, are identified. Once these have been identified, the way in which these textual elements and resources contribute to the creation of the homophobic experience and reality is described. Such analysis is supported by some theoretical principles of narratology, queer theory, social criticism and semiotic, in order to provide a hermeneutic reading. It concludes that a transindividual (re)affirmation of the homophobic habitus and injury is given through narrator’s voice. This comes to constitute the whole tale as a character assassinatio |
