Spanish abstract Con el fin de comprobar si en el Congreso del Estado de San Luis Potosí, México, se ha acortado la brecha de género, se analizan los resultados de la aplicación de las disposiciones afirmativas de cuota y paridad de género. Además, se revisan los perfiles educativos y las trayectorias previas a la diputación, con el objeto de hacer visibles las diferencias entre hombres y mujeres en cuanto a habilidades y experiencias. Una fuente de información principal es la base de datos original acerca de la integración de cinco legislaturas del Congreso del Estado San Luis Potosí, de 2003 a 2018, cuya utilización hizo posible la obtención de una perspectiva histórica de las transformaciones en la brecha de género. Si bien se contaba con información previa a 2003, esta no fue de utilidad para la investigación porque carece de datos sobre las carreras políticas. Se concluye que ha sido significativo el acortamiento de la brecha de género y que no son de importancia las diferencias en las trayectorias políticas y los perfiles educativos entre las mujeres y los hombres que integraron el Congreso del Estado de San Luis Potosí en las legislaturas estudiadas
English abstract In order to ascertain whether the gender gap has been narrowed in the Congress of the State of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the results of the implementation of the affirmative quota and gender parity provisions are analyzed. In addition, the educational profiles and experience prior to joining the legislature are reviewed in order to make visible the differences between men and women in terms of skills and experiences. One main source of information is the original database on the integration of five legislatures of the Congress of the State of San Luis Potosí, from 2003 to 2018, the use of which made it possible to obtain a historical perspective on the transformations in the gender gap. Although information was available prior to 2003, it was not relevant for research because it lacks data on political careers. It is concluded that the narrowing of the gender gap has been significant and that the differences in political trajectories and educational profiles between the women and men who formed part of the San Luis Potosí State Congress in the studied legislative periods are of no importance
