| Spanish abstract | Este artículo se basa en una conferencia pública, realizada en mayo de 2006, en el auditorio de la universidad CES, como homenaje a los 150 años del nacimiento de Sigmund Freud. En él se plantea cómo lo inconsciente fue cubierto en la cultura occidental, primero por la civilización griega y todo su énfasis en una racionalidad ético-política; luego por el oscurantismo de la edad media; y finalmente por la racionalidad científica de la modernidad. En él se muestra también el proceso por el cual Freud constituyó lo inconsciente como su campo de investigación y cómo sistematizó todos sus hallazgos en una teoría que él mismo llamó “metapsicología”. Asimismo, responde a la pregunta ¿en qué sentido son pesimistas los descubrimientos freudianos, a pesar de hacer parte de la ilustración? Por último plantea algunas de las consecuencias que han tenido sus descubrimientos y la invención del método psicoanalítico en nuestra época |
| English abstract | This article is based on a public lecture, which was held in May 2006 in the auditorium of the University of CES, as a tribute to the 150th anniversary of Sigmund Freud’s birth. It poses the question of how the unconscious was covered in Western culture; first, by the Greek civilization and its emphasis on an ethical political rationality; second, by the darkness period of the Middle age; and finally, by the scientific rationality of modernity. This paper shows how the unconscious was established as Freud’s field of research, and his findings were ranked on a theory he called “metapsychology”. It also responds to the question “In what way can Freud’s discovery be taken as a pessimistic fact, in spite of belonging to the illustration”? Finally, it states some of his finding consequences as well as the invention of the psychoanalytic method at the current time |
