| English abstract | This report presents the case of a female teenager with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is the fourth most frequent psychiatric disorder, affecting 1-3% of the population. The patient reports that the reasons she presents this disorder are the high number of medications she ingests everyday, learning difficulties, sleeping problems, and relationship problems with her classmates. Thus, the objective of this article is to present the patient’s previous and current history, as well as her diagnosis. In addition to that, the report highlights her history of treatment interruptions throughout her life, as well as her secondary gains. We will also present the adaptations utilized in the treatment of OCD, as well as the behavioral and cognitive techniques used |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente relato de experiência profissional discorre sobre o tratamento associado, fármacos e Terapia Cognitivo-Comportamental, de uma adolescente diagnosticada com Transtorno Obsessivo-Compulsivo (TOC) – o quarto transtorno psiquiátrico mais freqüente na população. A paciente, juntamente com sua mãe, trouxe como motivo da busca de tratamento o elevado número de medicamentos ingeridos ao dia, as dificuldades escolares, de sono e de relacionamento com colegas. Desta forma, o objetivo do artigo é apresentar um histórico do quadro clínico da paciente, presente e passado, bem como realizar considerações sobre o diagnóstico, atentando para o histórico de desistências de tratamento que ocorreram ao longo da vida da paciente, juntamente com aparentes ganhos secundários. Além disso, serão apresentadas as adaptações realizadas para o tratamento do TOC, com as técnicas comportamentais e cognitivas utilizadas |
