Resumen en inglés | The well known epigraph to one of Forster’s books - Howards end, ‘only connect’, is a perpetual appeal to any student, to undertake it as a task in an examination of works of art. This is particularly true in an examination of Forster’s work - Forster's fiction in Maurice (1913/4); publication (1971), and it becomes quite challenging when the particular task is to connect Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, with Forster, the father of fantasy in modern times. This sets a question to be asked and a problem to be solved, and this is my initial purpose here |
