| Spanish abstract | El primer teatro fijo en Pátzcuaro, llamado Salón Apolo, se construyó en medio de la plaza de San Agustín y fue inaugurado el 8 de diciembre de 1913, unos meses después de que un grupo de maderistas armados saliera de la ciudad y dos hombres fueran colgados, uno en la plaza principal y otro en la misma plaza de San Agustín. Siete años más tarde el teatro fue desmontado y reconstruido en su totalidad. En este trabajo se revisa la historia del edificio en sus dos etapas y se reflexiona sobre las razones que tuvo el empresario Luis Ortiz Lazcano para construir este teatro en un tiempo de inestabilidad política, social y económica |
| English abstract | The first permanent theater in Patzcuaro, called Salón Apolo, was built in the center of the San Agustin square, and inaugurated on December 8, 1913, just a few months after a group of armed Maderistas left the city and two men had been hanged, one in the main square, a second in the San Agustin square where the Salón was erected. Seven years later, the theater was dismantled and then completely rebuilt. This article reviews the history of the building in its two stages and reflects on the motives that led the entrepreneur Luis Ortiz Lazcano to build a theater during an era of such intense political, social, and economic turmoil |
