| Spanish abstract | El objetivo del artículo es analizar el vínculo entre los riesgos sociales y el bienestar subjetivo a partir de los datos provenientes del módulo de Bienestar Autorreportado (BIARE) 2012, levantado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI). Para ello, se eligió un conjunto de variables ordenadas en cinco dimensiones que representan un tipo particular de riesgo social. Bajo la premisa de que los riesgos sociales, y su acumulación, tienen un efecto modulante (positivo o negativo) en el bienestar subjetivo, se someten a consideración dos hipótesis lógicas. Los resultados de la investigación indican que, en términos de riesgos, el bienestar subjetivo no es una traducción positiva de los factores con los que está asociada su disminución, es decir, la relación entre una vida satisfactoria (o efectos positivos) y una vida insatisfecha (o riesgos negativos) no se presenta como la secuencia de una misma escala |
| English abstract | The aim of this paper is to analyze the relation between social risks and subjective wellbeing using data from the Survey on Self-reported Wellbeing in Mexico 2012. In order to do so, a set of variables is selected in five dimensions that represent a particular kind of social risk. Under the premise that social risks and their accumulation have a modulating effect on subjective wellbeing, we consider two logical assumptions: a) risk reduction has a positive effect on self-reported wellbeing, and b) accumulation or lack of resources to address them has a negative effect on subjective wellbeing. Results indicate that, in terms of risk, subjective wellbeing is not a positive translation of the factors with which its decline is associated. In other words, the relationship between a satisfying life (or positive effects) and an unmet life (or negative risks) is not presented as a sequence of the same scale |
